Lovely Wednesday on HONFabLab

I have a good time today at HONFablab, a fabrication laboratory here in my city Yogyakarta. Along with some of my fellow crafter at Indonesian crafter Yogya region, we have a tour hosted by Magic Fingers syndicate (MFS). After an introduction by Tommy and Agha we had a demo on how to use that monstrous machine, on Laser cutter machine our mentor is Ahong,  and on Shopbot machine we have Bram as our tutor, they patiently teach us  how to operate the machine. I gave up on the Shop bot hahaha because its more complicated than the laser cutting machine. No more to say cause i'm not good with words (haa), here's a bunch of pictures from our tour.

Seneng banget hari ini, saya dan beberapa teman di Indonesian Crafter tour ke HONFablab, sebuah laboratorium fabrikasi yang ada di kota Yogyakarta. Tur ini diselenggarakan oleh Magic Fingers Syndicate. Pertama tur dimulai, ada perkenalan apa itu HONFablab oleh Mas Tommy dan Mas Agha. Setelah perkenalan baru deh kita liat demo bagaimana car menggunakan mesin-mesin super gede itu. Pertama ada Mas Ahong yang ngajarin cara mengoperasikan mesin Laser Cutting dan kedua ada Mas Bram yang ngajarin cara mengoperasikan mesin Shopbot, serius mesin shopbot itu lebih susah huhuhuhu jadi nyerah deh kalo mau ngoperasiin sendiri. Daripada baca tulisanku yang amburadul, yuk liat foto-fotonya.

Craft Carnival #3

My Photo Studio

Hi there ya' guys, I just wanna share my "studio" where I photograph most of my paperon products. It's very high tech and full of gadgets. Ready? here it is..

Halo semua, aku mau kasih lihat studioku nie, yang biasanya ku pakai buat foto produknya Paperon. High tech banget deh studioku dan penuh dengan gadget masa kini.. Penasaran? Lihat yaaa..

Hehehe did I fool you? basically my studio just a couple of styrofoam board to bounce that natural light from the window, and the window works as a filter. If you have a cloudy weather and dont have a good light, change you white balance setting in your camera to cloudy, it will give a warmer result instead a bluish picture. Add in some props.. In my case is a vintage sewing machine table, and doily, and there you have it! A very high tech photo studio hahaha

Hehehehe studioku cuma pakai dua papan styrofoam buat mantulin cahaya ke produknya plus foto deket jendela biar dapet cahaya natural, jendelanya juga berfungsi sebagai filter biar ga terlalu keras cahaya ke produknya. Kalo lagi mendung dan cahaya yang masuk gak begitu bagus, ganti aturan white balance di kameramu ke cloudy, nanti hasilnya akan bernuansa hangat daripada berwarna kebiruan. Habis itu tinggal tambahin properti aja untuk mendukung produknya.

Fair Love

Paperon is participating in the first Vredeburg Fair here at Vredeburg fort museum Yogyakarta (yay). I'm not alone, i'll be with another great crafters that have joined the Indonesian crafter Yogya Region community, because that is the theme of the fair "Museum and Community". There will be workshops everyday from Indonesian Crafter community and I will be on the friday 25th, I will be teaching on how to make stamps from trash such as styrofoam take outs and toilet paper tubes. So if you happens to be near by, please come and say hi to us :)

Paperon bakal berpartisipasi dalam Vredeburg Fair yang pertama yang diadakan di Beteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta. Paperon ga bakal sendiri tapi bareng-bareng crafter lainnya yang bergabung di komunitas Indonesian crafter reg. Jogja, sesuai dengan temanya yaitu "Museum dan Komunitas". Dan setiap harinya bakal ada workshop - workshop keren dari komunitas Indonesian crafter dan workshop Paperon ada di hari Jumat tanggal 25 Oktober, nanti Paperon bakal ngajarin caranya bikin stamp atau cap dari bahan sampah (mendaur ulang) seperti bekas bungkus makanan styrofoam dan tube tisu gulung. Jadi kalau lagi di Yogya jangan lupa mampir ya ke Vredeburg fair tanggal 23 - 27 Oktober.

Museum Festival 2013 Update

Hello, brace yourself cause it's gonna be a long post of pictures :D These are pictures from the museum festival that I snapped yesterday, the museum exhibition is still on going till September the 13th.

It's an awesome experience, I get to meet with other crafter, great history lesson and the fact there's so much museums that I didn't know were actually exist on my city. Have to visit them when I get the chance. How's your week? tell me your story.

Museum Festival Indonesia 2013 Handmade Bazaar

Besok tanggal 8 - 10 September 2013 Paperon bakalan ngelapak di handmade bazaar Festival Museum yang bakal diadain di PKKH (eks Purna Budaya) Universitas Gajahmada. Selain ngelapak disana, aku juga bakal ngisi salah satu workshop pada tanggal 9 & 10 September dari jam 1 - 3 sore. Aku bakal ngajarin caranya bikin stamp dari craft foam, terus cara mencap kain dari stamp buatan kita, teruuus lagi habis itu dbuat coaster deh (penampakan coasternya bisa diliat di gambar dibawah ya)... Tiga kursus dalam satu workshop, asik gak tuh! :D

Jadi kalian yang tinggal di Yogyakarta dan sekitarnya, ato mungkin lagi libur kesini. Jangan lupa mampir ke Fesmus ya, tanggal 8 mulai dari jam 2 siang sampai selesai dan tanggal 9-10 mulai dari jam 8 pagi - 5 sore.

Tomorrow on September 8 - 10th 2013 Paperon will be at the Museum Festival handmade bazaar on Yogyakarta. Besides being a seller, I will be one of the workshop holder there on 9 & 10th start from 1 - 3 pm. I will be teaching how to make handmade stamp from craft foam, and then how to stamp on fabric, and last but not least I will show you how to make fabric coaster with your handmade fabric (see the coaster at the bottom of post) neat right?! three courses on one workshop! 

So if you happen to be here on Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dont forget to come by at Museum Festival here at PKKH building (ex Purna Budaya) University of Gajahmada on 8 September start from 2 pm and 9-10 September start from 8 am.

I opened a society6 account since 2012, but didnt really know what to put there and how it works hehe..  Finally I start to research about it and now my account is active and ready for you to check it out. I put both Deni and my iilustration, and those are available in other products too.

Blog Face Lift

Yay! To celebrate the blog first anniversary I decided to give the blog a facelift haha.. Too bad I forgot to save the old blog look haha because I'm too excited. But if you know me and maybe follow my blog this past year you know I've done a major facelift to the blog. It's much cleaner and bright! I love the way it looks now. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and maybe browse in it much more longer than before haha.



 

What We Do

Wow! I didnt realize the blog is already a year, and wordpress reminded me hah! What to do to celebrate? Any ideas? giveaway maybe? or a special tutorial? come on.. give me something.. just give me comments if you have any idea, I would be very grateful.

Anyway, I know I neglect this blog many times.. But its all for a reason (excuses..excuses :D) Fortunately we got projects to work with these past few months, so I just wanna show you what we did.

Deni got a project to do a character and environtment illustration for a game app, it was finished but the game not launch yet so this is just a sneak peeks




And I got a custom order from my shop customer, he wants a custom black box and want it embellish with korean style. i dont know clue about korean style,so I just improvised by googling korean stationary (thanks Google :D). The box was made from scratch, it's 21 cm x 15 cm. I made the floral washi tape, by printing a floral motif to a masking tape then I hot glued some twine rope and tie a handmade label card to the rope. Glad he likes it.

                               

There's ongoing projects too, we''ll share it someday. Hope you have a busy but fun weeks too.
